New Podcasts

For people that don't know, Ricky is doing a new 3-part podcast series. The first two are out now - Guide to Medicine and Guide to Natural History. Ricky is charging a quid for these, I nicked them for free.

Obviously I am a big fan of Ricky, Steve, and Karl. Presumably, with my listening experience, I could be considered a leading expert on their radio/podcast work. With that said, I'm sad to say, this is not their finest work. The best word I can use to describe it is contrived.

Admittedly, Medicine is better than Natural History, but it all feels so fake. It seems to me like Karl wants to buy another house and therefore Ricky bunged him into the studio to make some more cash.

More XFM clips to be posted sometime, right now I can't be bothered.

  1. Agreed, Medicine is BAD. Floggin' a dead horse, indeed.

  2. First off, it's more than a three part series, as philosophy is due out march 17 (being the 4th part) and they are recording guide to...The English this saturday (a fifth part).

As for the quality, I admit medicine wasnt great, but still well worth it in my books. Natural history was better, and The Arts was a tour-de-force, right up there with podcast series one or xfm years.

I am really looking forward to philosophy, as the free preview clip on gervais' podcast was brilliant.

  3. if it is contrived in any way, it is that Karl's heart isn't fully in it and Ricky is prodding him to keep going.

    I hope they do.

  4. I preferred when Karl was shy and reluctant to share his views and whatever he did say came from the heart. Now, Merchant and Gervais just push the same buttons expecting Karl to say something ludicrous.
